A series of watercolor and pencil works studying the female form in motion. Not observed from the outside but rendered from within — the body as the first site of knowing, the first archive, the first home. Created in tandem with autorretrato and presented together as a single immersive experience.
“While making autorretrato I found myself flowing between beatmaking, production, and painting; iterating between sonic and visual landscapes for months on end until I stopped seeing them as separate things entirely. What emerged visually was Figuras, a study of the female body in movement, almost to present these women in the act of listening to and reacting to their own music. Using lighter, quicker strokes and lots of water, the figures emerge organically — dripping off the page, refusing confinement. A duality of lightness and force that to me encompasses the beautiful duality of feminine energy.”
