Light shadows moving subtly on a wooden wall.

MĀTR: from matter, mother, matríz; the source. The origin point where ideas gestate before becoming reality.

MĀTR is an artist-led creative house.

We create and house work that endures—honoring voices that matter, returning to the source where authentic stories begin.

our founder

MĀTR was born from a personal reckoning with what gets preserved and what gets erased.

In my own family story, I watched the men's contributions get documented, celebrated, passed down—while the women who built everything remained unnamed. The grandmothers, the mothers, the ones who held it all together. They disappeared from the record.

MĀTR is my answer to that pattern. Not as political statement, but as creative practice—centering what gets overlooked, preserving what risks erasure by treating art as artifact—tangible proof that these voices existed, mattered, and deserve to be remembered.

These are the threads that weave us together—across cultures, across generations, connecting what came before to what's becoming.
